Athens, May 23, 2025Nova ICT is implementing the project “Integrated System for the Protection, Promotion and Safety of Mount Aigaleo”, commissioned by the Environmental Association of Municipalities of Athens and Piraeus (PESYDAP). The project aims to protect and promote a major green lung that directly affects approximately 2 million residents across 23 municipalities.

The project is part of the innovative “Smart Forest” system, which utilizes advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, next-generation networks, smart applications, sensors and cameras with image analysis capabilities. Its goal is to support the prevention and effective management of risks from natural disasters.

At the heart of the system lies a state-of-the-art Command and Control Center that ensures the full operational readiness of Civil Protection authorities, prompt notification of the public and immediate coordination in emergency situations.

The project aims to serve as a benchmark for environmental protection and the safety of residents against natural disasters. At the same time, it promotes environmental awareness among the local community through educational tools and actions that encourage the participation of citizens, students, volunteers, and visitors.

As part of the publicity actions for the “Integrated System for the Protection, Promotion and Safety of Mount Aigaleo”, Nova ICT supports the environmental running event organized by PESYDAP, “Running and Walking on the Trails of Mount Aigaleo”, which will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The event includes a 7-kilometer trail run as well as a hiking route for all ages, starting from Mount Aigaleo.

Through this event, the connection between citizens and nature is strengthened, highlighting the importance of collective effort in protecting the environment. The initiative is part of a broader strategic plan focused on the protection and development of Mount Aigaleo, with technology serving as a catalyst for better quality of life and a safe, open natural environment for all.
