Athens, June 18, 2025Nova ICT, a leading company in the field of Information and Communication Technologies, has undertaken the implementation of the digital transformation of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), a flagship project of national importance, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility – NextGenerationEU.

The project, titled “Digital Transformation of the Greek National Tourism Organization,” marks a significant step toward modernizing the country’s tourism strategy leveraging cutting-edge technologies and aiming to develop a unified, interoperable and smart digital ecosystem.

The solution implemented by Nova ICT is based on three core pillars:

  • Digital Tourism Map: An interactive platform showcasing each region’s tourism offerings, available in six languages via the web and mobile applications.
  • Digital Repository: An innovative environment featuring digitized content from GNTO’s physical archives, enriched with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.
  • Smart Tourist Information System: A pioneering tool powered by Artificial Intelligence and big data analytics, providing personalized information throughout the visitor’s journey.

The main goals of the project include positioning Greece as a digitally mature and globally competitive tourism destination with a unified and consistent global presence. Special emphasis is placed on attracting emerging markets such as China and India, as well as improving the visitor experience by enabling full travel planning through mobile devices and tablets. At the same time, the project aims to support local entrepreneurship by promoting local products, services and cultural assets, while contributing to the extension of the tourist season and the strengthening of alternative tourism forms such as thematic, nature-based and cultural tourism.

The centralized management of tourism information through a single digital portal will enable the redesign of the national tourism strategy based on real data and dynamically evolving needs, reinforcing the country’s tourism brand and contributing to sustainable tourism development.

Through the implementation of this project, Nova ICT plays a key role in shaping a modern “One-Stop Shop” for tourism information, integrating strategic marketing tools, data analytics, and interactive user experience solutions.

With extensive experience in designing and implementing complex digital transformation projects in both the public and private sectors, Nova ICT reaffirms its strategic role in supporting Greece’s transition to the new digital era.
